Hey guys,

Today's the 6ᵗʰ of January - so it's Epiphany!

Now, I'm religious in a 'Life of Pi' sense so logistically (for me) today mainly signifies the end of Christmas and the day on which I should take down any decorations I have up.

Sidenote: this is why the opening line of 'Lover' (by Taylor Swift) always winds me up. You SHOULD leave the Christmas lights up 'til January, Taylor - them's the rules!!

This means that, today, I need to dismantle my bookmas tree (hearts break around the world at this terrible news)!

For anyone (magically) unaware of my bookmas tree - here is a photo of it all set up in my mini library.

The main element of note are my book ornaments, which I made back in November.

They're basically sponges that I papier-mached, painted, and added ribbons and printed out book covers to.

I think they look really cute (from a distance) and they showcase some of my favourite books (of the year and just in general).

Were they a massive palarva to make? Yes.

Would really want to do the whole process again? Absolutely not!

Do I love them? Certainly!!!

I'm going to be sad taking them down but, such is the sentiment I feel every year on Epiphany.

Christmas is my favourite period of the year and I'm always sad to move out of it and into the nest of Winter. It's the one time of year that I can be sure that I'll get to spend quality time with the family members that I love so much.

So, taking down the decorations today feels very symbolic, packing up the goodness/highlights of last year and actively charging forward into a bigger and (hopefully) better year ahead.

I'm undecided on what to do with the book decorations right now. Initially, I had planned to add them all to a long piece of ribbon and create some kind of bookish bunting to hang in the mini library but I'm not 100% sold on the logistics of that at present (there's an awful lot of them)!

Let me know what you think of the ornaments, what I should do with them, and if you (like me) hold fast to the Epiphany = the end of Christmas= the day you take your decorations down 'rule.

Drop any thoughts you have in the comments section below!
